      Description:

      K-8 School Girls' Basketball is a competitive sport where student athletes refine their skills in practices and competition.  Team work, commitment, and dedication to improve throughout the season are nurtured by their coaches.  Many competitive High School Athletes have come out of 国产探花Basketball programs.  

      Typical Start Date:

      Tryouts are typically in mid-December.  Games begin in January.  Each K-8 School has a combined 5th and 6th grade Team and a combined 7th and 8th Grade Team. 

      Typical End Date:

      The K-8 Girls' 7/8 grade Basketball Championship Tournament takes place during the first or second week of March, prior to Spring Break.  Unless a team signs up for an outside tournament, that is the end of their season.  

      Events:

      Practices at the 国产探花

      The seven K-8 国产探花 participate in hosting each other and playing away at each others schools for a total of 10 regular season games.  

      At the end of the season, teams at the seven K-8 schools are seeded into a District Tournament to play for the 7/8 grade Championship.  the 5/6 grade team can play in the Charger Classic, which is a 5/6 grade school tradition.    

      Who Participates:

      Basketball is a tryout sport,  All who wish to play need to tryout prior to the season.  Tryouts are based on skills of passing, shooting, dribbling through traffic, and general game play.  Other factors taken into account during tryouts - grades, behavior, communication, sportsmanship, and good team work.   Typically, teams are made up of 13 athletes. 

      Each K-8 School has a 5th and 6th Grade combined Basketball Team and a 7th and 8th Grade combined Basketball Team.  

      Arroyo, Abraham Lincoln, Maryland, Mountain View, Sweetwater, Sunnyslope, and Orangewood

      Prior training:

      Girls' Basketball is highly competitive and there are tryouts.  Having previous experience is helpful for making a team.  Anyone interested should practice the fundamental skills.  

       

      Season Results

      The 2022-23 K-8 School Basketball Season came to a close on March 9.

      The final results from the K-8 School District Championships were:

      5/6th Grade K-8 School Girls' Team Results

      1st Place - Arroyo

      2023-24 K-8 5/6 girls basketball champions - Arroyo

      2nd Place - Maryland
