The Assessment Department is committed to ensuring that all Washington Elementary School District students are assessed with appropriate measurement instruments. The results are meaningful information regarding students' progress in meeting District curricula and Arizona Academic Standards. This goal is accomplished by ensuring that assessments are fair, the scores produced are reliable, the interpretation and use of the scores are valid. Scores are reported to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and the Governing Board, and the public at large, in a manner that is clear and understandable. Assessment information reflects the program and service needs of our diverse student population. The results are utilized in facilitating instructional decisions. Additionally, the Assessment Department is responsible for providing available data to meet their specific requirements of schools and other departments.
Currently the Assessment Department manages assessments for mathematics, reading, art, writing, social studies/language arts and technology. The department supports the administration, scoring and reporting of STAR Math and Reading data.Assessments are aligned to the Arizona Academic Standards and are revised and updated as those standards are modified. Data analysis of existing assessments is ongoing. The Assessment Department provides an essential link between curriculum and student achievement.
