The District encourages parent and community involvement in the schools and offers various opportunities for participation in the educational process including school site councils. Membership on site councils is voluntary. The responsibilities of the site council are to facilitate school improvement planning regarding agreed-upon school qualities, short-term problem solving regarding school-level issuesand staff selection. Members serve for one- or two-year terms.

The meetings of the Desert View Site Council will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 a.m. in the library, unless otherwise scheduled.
The members of the Council may include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
1. Administration - The Principal of the building shall have a permanent seat on the Council (with one vote).
2. Certified Personnel - There shall be three voting full- or part-time certified positions on the Council. Included in this group are teachers, tutors, librarians, coaches, counselors, school psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational-therapists, physical therapists, and advisors.
3. Classified Personnel - There shall be one voting noncertificated employee position on the Council. This member may be selected from administrative assistants, custodians, aides, cafeteria employees, crossing guards, or nurses.
4. Parents/Guardians/Community Members/Observer
- There shall be three voting parent/guardian positions on the Council category. Parents/guardians must have a child currently enrolled at Desert View or reside in the Desert View attendance area.
- There shall be one voting community member position. This member shall not have children going to Desert View and must reside or have a business in the attendance area.
Agendas for the Site Council will be posted on this webpage in advance of the meeting. Minutes from the meeting will be added after the meeting has concluded.
