Greetings Parents and Guardians,

This is Dr. Paul Stanton. I am grateful to be the Superintendent of the Washington Elementary School District (国产探花). As you know, the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year has come to end, and I am incredibly proud of everything our students and schools have accomplished in the last five months. None of our first semester achievements and successes would be possible without the overwhelming support and work of our amazing teachers, administrators, staff members, students and community members. I also want to thank all of our parents, guardians and families for their continued support. We could not have done it without you! I hope you enjoy your winter break and holidays spending time with loved ones, and I look forward to our continued partnership in the New Year.

In this final update of the year, I will share information about our January Kindergarten Open House events, spotlights of our students and staff, and reminders about our district-wide job fair and math curriculum materials display.

The Future is Bright in Kindergarten!

Come see how bright the future is in 国产探花Kindergarten! Do you or someone you know have a child turning five before September 1st, 2023? Please join us for our kindergarten open house events on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Offered at 27 locations, these open houses will provide future kindergarteners and their families with opportunities to meet teachers, explore classrooms, receive important information about our KidSpace childcare program, transportation services, and school meals and so much more!

Our free, full-day program offers a developmentally appropriate, research-based curriculum that addresses reading, writing, math, science, social studies, physical education and art, with time for fun and interaction! Our dedicated teachers and staff also help create learning environments where students are valued and supported. With multiple A+ 国产探花 of Excellence, a National Blue Ribbon and a National Title I Distinguished School, the 国产探花is proud to be a Top 20 school district in the country in student growth.

Congratulations, December 2022 SUPER Kids and Staff!

I was humbled to celebrate the December 2022 SUPER Kids and SUPER Staff awardees from Acacia Elementary School, Desert Foothills Jr. High School, Ironwood Elementary School and Sunburst Elementary School. Each month of the 2022-2023 school year, select students and staff are recognized as SUPER Kids and Staff for their accomplishments and contributions. SUPER Kids receive a certificate and a free pizza from Peter Piper Pizza, while SUPER Staff earn a certificate and Starbucks gift card.

国产探花Student Athletes Win Basketball District Championships

This year's boys basketball season was a great success! Congratulations to our championship teams for their excellent play! I also want to give a special thank you to all of our coaches and parents for their support and helping make this season so great. See below for the championship results.

• Middle School Champions: Eighth Grade, Palo Verde Middle School and Seventh Grade, Mountain Sky Jr. High School
• 5/6 Division 1: Acacia Elementary School
• 5/6 Division 2: Arroyo School

The District and I are so proud of all our student athletes for displaying their talent and sportsmanship in their championship games and all season long.

国产探花Students Perform at Winter Concerts

Prior to winter break, our students displayed their amazing talents in the arts by performing in holiday concerts across the district. Students from Abraham Lincoln Traditional School, Acacia Elementary School, Chaparral Elementary School, Ironwood Elementary School, Sunburst Elementary School and Sweetwater School participated in the Desert Foothills Regional Choir Concert. Additionally, students from Cactus Wren Elementary School, Cholla Middle School, Desert View Elementary School, Lakeview Elementary School, Manzanita Elementary School, Moon Mountain Elementary School, Mountain Sky Jr. High School, Palo Verde Middle School, Richard E. Miller Elementary School, Roadrunner Elementary School, Shaw Butte Elementary School, Sunnyslope Elementary School and Washington Elementary School also participated in winter concerts to celebrate the holiday season. I apologize if I missed any additional school winter concerts; however, I know those students also spread the holiday cheer with incredible performances. Fantastic job to all our students for showcasing their talents through the arts!

国产探花to Hire Certified, Support Staff and Substitutes at District-Wide Job Fair

Sweetwater Ave. We are looking to fill a variety of exciting positions including elementary school teachers, substitutes, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, nutrition services helpers, social workers, custodians and much more! Walk-ins are welcome for substitute and support staff vacancies. 国产探花Seeks Feedback on Math Curriculum Materials

The 国产探花is in the process of reviewing and adopting mathematics materials to support teachers with instruction to enhance student achievement. You are invited to provide feedback on these materials during our open houses and community display! The Math Curriculum Adoption Committee is hosting open houses on Wednesday, January 4th, and Thursday, January 5th, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the 国产探花Administrative Center, located at 4650 W. Sweetwater Ave., Glendale, AZ 85304. Committee members will be present at the open houses to share about the variety of materials and answer questions about the resources. Spanish and Arabic translators will also be on site at the January 5th open house.

If you are unable to attend the open houses, you can also review the materials in person at the 国产探花Administrative Center during regular business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Materials are currently available for review through January 13th.

As a final reminder, winter break takes place now through Monday, January 2nd, 2023. School and regular business hours resume Tuesday, January 3rd. We wish everyone a safe, healthy and joyful break!

Soy el Dr. Paul Stanton. Estoy agradecido de ser el Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Washington (国产探花por sus siglas en inglés). Como saben, ya terminó el primer semestre del año escolar 2022-2023 y estoy tan orgulloso de todo lo que han logrado nuestros estudiantes y escuelas en los últimos cinco meses. Ninguno de nuestros logros y éxitos del primer semestre hubiese sido posible sin el gran apoyo y trabajo de nuestros increíbles maestros, administradores, miembros del personal, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad. También me gustaría agradecerles a todos nuestros maestros, tutores y familias por su apoyo continuo. ¡No podríamos haberlo hecho sin ustedes! Tuve el honor de celebrar a los ganadores para diciembre 2022 de SUPER Niños y Empleados de las Escuelas Acacia, Desert Foothills, Ironwood y Sunburst. Cada mes del año escolar 2022-2023, se selecciona a un grupo de estudiantes y empleados para ser reconocidos como SUPER Niños y Empleados por sus logros y contribuciones. ¡La temporada de baloncesto de niños de este año fue un gran éxito! ¡Felicidades a nuestros equipos campeones por jugar de manera excelente! Además, quiero agradecerles de manera especial a todos nuestros entrenadores y padres por su apoyo y por ayudar a hacer de esta temporada una maravillosa. Antes de las vacaciones de invierno, nuestros estudiantes mostraron sus habilidades increíbles en las bellas artes al presentarse en conciertos festivos por todo el distrito. El 国产探花Busca Aporte acerca de los Materiales del Plan de Estudios de Matemáticas

El 国产探花está en el proceso de revisar y adoptar materiales de matemáticas para apoyar a los maestros con la enseñanza para mejorar el logro estudiantil. ¡Están invitados a proveer aporte sobre los materiales durante nuestras jornadas de puertas abiertas y presentación comunitaria! El Comité de Adopción del Plan de Estudios de Matemáticas está organizando las jornadas de puertas abiertas para el miércoles, 4 de enero y el jueves, 5 de enero, de 3:00 a 5:30 p.m. en el Centro Administrativo del 国产探花, localizado en 4650 W. Sweetwater Ave., Glendale, AZ 85304. Habrá miembros del comité presentes en las jornadas de puertas abiertas para explicar acerca de la variedad de materiales y responder a preguntas acerca de los recursos. También habrá traductores de español y árabe presentes en la jornada de puertas abiertas el 5 de enero

Si no pueden participar en las jornadas de puertas abiertas, también pueden revisar los materiales en persona en el Centro Administrativo del 国产探花durante el horario laboral regular de 7:30 a.m. a 4:30 p.m. lunes a viernes. Los materiales actualmente estarán disponibles para ser revisados hasta el 13 de enero, 2023.
